Artwork Description

I love pansies' intense colours and velvety texture. Ladybirds symbolise good fortune and often feature in my paintings.

Artist Bio

Iris endeavours to honour nature and beauty, and to bring joy through her artwork. Living in Bondi in Sydney’s East, she loves to walk and admire the natural world, finding inspiration in flowers, birds, animals, the sky and sea. She sees beauty not only in that which is growing and blossoming but also in that which is in the process of decay and transformation. Being a yoga practitioner and teacher, her artworks convey connection, whether between a flower and bee, the sky and a bird, or a lizard and an autumn vine. Yoga’s Om symbol will often be found if you look carefully at her work.

A keen traveller, she is also captivated by the classical sculptures of Europe and the US and sketching these is one of her passions. Loving dance and being a dancer, she has also captured in her paintings the exuberance and passion of this art form.

Iris completed her formal art training at the historic Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney in the 1980s. She now devotes her time to art and the practice and teaching of yoga.

If you would like a unique artwork created with love and dedication, Iris accepts commissions for portraits (human and animal), still lives of cherished objects and devotional art.

Half of the profits from Iris’ artworks are donated to animal welfare charities.
