Artwork Description

In "Mosaic", playful abstraction meets rhythmic structure. The composition is a vibrant puzzle of interlocking forms—rounded, squared, petaled—rendered in a refreshing palette of turquoise, deep crimson, ivory, and sky blue. Dotted lines punctuate the canvas, guiding the viewer's eye through the geometry like whispered instructions in a visual language.

A soft floral motif blooms in the top right, offering a moment of symmetry in a field of irregular, puzzle-like fragments. The large teardrop shape anchoring the top left suggests flow and cohesion, while the scattered ovals and negative spaces create a sense of movement and depth.

Despite its abstract nature, "Mosaic" evokes familiarity—like memories stitched together, or fragments of a dream assembled into a coherent whole. It speaks to how disjointed moments can form something beautifully unified.

Artist Bio

My name is Isabell Simone Koeder, hence my artist’s name: Issie S.K.

Originally, I am from Stuttgart in Germany and moved to my partner in Sydney, Australia in October 2024. The first few months I lived with him in the Eastern Suburbs. While this of course has many advantages, it was still too loud, too crowded, too much for me in everyday life. I have Asperger’s and therefore thrive best in a calm and safe environment.

Not long after arriving in Sydney, I got to know the Upper North Shore. I immediately fell in love and knew that I would find the peace and quiet I needed in this leafy area with its large land blocks and beautiful houses and gardens. So, we moved up here by the end of April 2025.

How did I discover art?
I have always loved art in any form. Colours, shapes and textures are an integral part of everyday life. When we are a little bit mindful, we can recognise art everywhere and in everything.
Furthermore, the creative energy behind visual art is very interesting.
Wassily Kandinsky, Lyonel Feininger, M.C. Escher, Thomas Kinkade, all three are very different, but brilliant. - Definitely my favorite artists.
Colours are what I like the most. I love colours that harmonise as much as those that are in complete contrast to each other.
What would the world be without colours?

Why did I decide to paint abstract geometric and fantasy art?
Because it is uncomplicated.
Because it is simple and yet so special.
Anything is possible in abstract or fantasy art.
Colours and shapes are never wrong.
There is no room for judgment and negativity
because imagination and fantasy are limitless.
For me, there is peace and freedom in abstractionism and fantasy.

Why did I decide to paint with acrylics?
Simply because they are easy to handle.
And I love the way these colours feel when
they are applied from the brush to the canvas.

I hope you find interest in my art works.
Let’s go on a wonderful journey through shapes and colours together.

Kind regards,
Issie S.K.
