Isobel's work focuses on creating hyper realistic and sometimes abstracted pieces mainly through the use of colour pencil and pastel. Each piece characterised by the building up of layers, unique mark making and colour, her work also sometimes draws on the subject of the human condition and identity, while challenging the boundaries between ones flesh and character to another. In this work, Isobel presents a narrative of flesh, through the unavoidable nakedness of her figures, hoping to to create a tension that doesn’t allow distraction from the subject. In contrast to this, Isobel’s most recent body of work focusses largely on representations of realism transforming the mundane of every day objects, into highly detailed and saturated coloured works, once again creating a pause for the audience to engage and challenge what is in front of them.
