Geraniums

Geraniums or pelargoniums from my mother's garden on black background. They are usually given as a housewarming gift and symbolise friendship or wishes for good health.
The magenta of its flowers contrasts well against bright green and black background.

My name is Ivana Djuric and I reside in sunny Brisbane. I've been drawing and painting ever since I know for myself and art is my absolute passion. As I suffer from MS, painting became my escape and the way of expressing all the different emotions using predominantly bright colours and thick impasto texture. My subject matter is variety of different flowers and nature as I find it exciting and soothing at the same time. It is also giving me a chance to explore their different colours, textures and symbology and connect it to my inner feelings while translating it onto the canvas. I also paint portraits by commission and at the moment I'm exploring doing portraits with floral or natural twist. From time to time I let myself go fully abstract where my absolute freedom rules and I explore colours and shapes and I let them transform themselves into whatever they wants. It is usually inspired by my emotional state and music. Music plays a major part in my paintings as I cannot paint without it as it lifts my spirit and transports that energy onto the canvas.
