WA Artist Jay Heather began fine tuning her visual art after putting down roots in Perth Western Australia in 2007. Acrylic is her medium of choice to create her signature figures and faces using unblended brush strokes and texture with paint resulting in an expressive patchwork of tones, highlights, and shadows. Inspired by the influential Andy Warhol & Picasso, her works are often boldly coloured, semi abstract in nature, whilst the primary subject remains recognisable.
Her use of intentional palettes any colour other than flesh tone enable her portraits to really come to life. She responds to faces that show their emotions and, in a portrait, she aims to capture the true essence of her subject’s personality.
Many of the portraits come out her imagination enabling unrestricted freedom to be creative. In recent years Jay has also been developing and producing digital portrait paintings for her clients.
You can find her art for sale in her Guildford framing studio & retail space ‘Imagine That’ as well as on her Instagram/s & website: @studiodjq_australia | @imaginethat_perth |www.imagine-that.com.au
