This is inspired by a holiday I spent with someone at a beautiful resort. It was ideal in terms of the location, views, activities and so on. But despite the fact that everything around me was perfect on paper – including the person I was with – I realised that those trappings didn't fuel my soul. I sat on the beach looking at an island in the distance and decided it was time for a new beginning. This artwork is to remind us all that we are the only ones who can make the decision to step away from a world we think we should inhabit – and we are the only ones who can forge new beginnings in our own lives.

This artwork is created with acrylic paint on stretched canvas with protective matte varnish. The sides of the canvas are also painted as the image 'extends' over the side, providing a continuous feel. It comes with wire at the back and is ready to hang.
