Artwork Description

‘Sacred Geodaisies’ is an artwork in my latest series exploring sacred geometry in nature. The artwork is set on a delightfully interesting pallet wood ‘canvas’. The outer surfaces of the pallet wood in this piece have been burnt in a fire and buffed back to create the deep and rich chocolate coloured wood. This is inspired by the Japanese process of preserving wood known as Shou Sugi Ban.

I have been fascinated with the Fibonacci sequence appearing in flower seed heads since a friend showed me a dried banksia displaying the exquisite growth pattern. I become immersed in the meditative state of creating the seed heads on pallet wood, firstly burning the pattern into the wood with pyrography and then providing colour with acrylic paints. A meditative state can also be induced by spending time observing the artwork.

I love the humble nature of daisies which sits so well with the awe-inspiring patterning found within their flower centre.

Artist Bio

Hi, welcome and thanks for dropping in on my bio! I am a mixed media artist based on beautiful Bundjalung Country, Lismore NSW.

My love for all things arts and crafts flourished as a child, yet I somehow lost my connection to these creative expressions of me. Now I am finding my way back and remembering why they grabbed my attention all those years ago! I am remembering that what I love most about making art is being totally immersed in the process and the feeling of connection. Through my art, I explore connection with Self, the Earth and each other. I have always been attracted to the deep wisdom within ancient, earth-centred cultures that operate from a relational worldview...recognising the interconnectedness of everything.

Currently, I repurpose discarded freight pallets to create a base for my artwork, recycling an abundant resource that once lived as trees. Through painting, drawing and pyrography, my pallet artworks come to life inspired by how things relate to each other. I embrace and connect with whatever arises - light and dark, seen and hidden, outer and inner - and I seek to find balance and harmony within them.

The artwork I create is an invitation for you to also find ways to connect, by slowing down, tuning in, listening deeply and embracing what arises. I’m excited to connect with you through art!
