Oil on linen, ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
Painting such mundane things as the bag taken to the Farmers Markets, and the veggies found there appealed to me as a subject to paint for its simplicity and connection to equally fulfilling daily activities back home in the kitchen.
I begin with a sketch on paper of the composition I have in mind, followed by a charcoal rendering directly onto the support. Brushing this back to a fine outline I apply the paint, layering to create shapes and contrasts which capture the light that brings the whole together.
