Island Magic

I chase the painted skies before dusk; I wander the beach to drink them in and watch the fading light paint the ripples of the tide. Even when in pain and despair, I search for beauty, for respite. I feel the divine speaking to me, loving me when I witness these moments. I search for the magic, and I soak it in.
This painting is a part of my journey in reflecting my coastal surroundings. I live on the beach in Tasmania, where it is stunning, wild and remote. I wanted to capture the beauty, atmosphere and presence experienced there over centuries. In this work, I have focussed closely on the colours and patterns I find during my wanderings; capturing the shifting moments as the sun sets.

I am a painter, printmaker, therapist and teacher- situated on the rugged, sandy coast of North west Tasmania. I have always been fascinated with the effects of weather on nature and how it reflects the realm of the unseen. I describe my art as spiritual landscapes; attempting to capture the presence and feeling of a divine moment in time. I like to think of my work as coloured memories, embedded with mystery.
