Artwork Description

"Pondering Ponds" draws inspiration from Allan Schmid's Alla Prima techniques, portraying a solitary gentleman deep in contemplation while seated on a weathered log in the midst of a tranquil pond. The canvas is awash with cool blues and subtle greens, capturing the serene essence of the water through loose, expressive brushwork reminiscent of Schmid's style.

The contemplative figure, portrayed with expressive strokes, invites viewers to share in the reflective atmosphere of the scene. The dynamic use of color, including muted blues and greens, creates a meditative backdrop, encouraging observers to engage with the introspective mood.

"Pondering Ponds" skilfully merges the man with the peaceful surroundings, offering a nuanced exploration of the symbiotic relationship between human contemplation and the fluidity of nature. Through the lens of Allan Schmid's approach, the artwork captures the transient beauty of a solitary figure pondering life's currents by the pond.

Artist Bio

Hi there, my name is Jacob Royle and I am an artist who lives on the stunning east coast of Tasmania with my wife. Painting is not just a hobby for me, I am deeply connected to the natural world and I am passionate about capturing its beauty in my art.

I have always had a love for art, this was typically expressed in my photography; and over the years I have honed my craft through years of practice and dedication. Now, I have moved this love for the natural beauty of the world into my works of art, which are known for their rich, vibrant colours, facial emotion, and attention to detail.

My wife and I chose to live on the east coast of Tasmania because of its breathtaking natural beauty. The lush green hills, rolling countryside, and stunning coastline provide endless inspiration for our art. We spend our days exploring the local area, taking photographs and making sketches of the landscapes and wildlife that surround us.

For me, painting is not just a way to express myself, it's a way to connect with the world around and my family. I believe anyone can paint when their hearts are open.

My wife is also an artist, as well as the women who inspired me to paint as well, in which we we often paint together. We make an incredible team, each inspiring the other to create beautiful works of art. We also enjoy sharing our passion for painting with others, often sharing our knowledge and skills.

In conclusion, I am a passionate artist who is dedicated to capturing the natural beauty of the east coast of Tasmania in my art and the faces I meet. With my wife by my side, I continue to create stunning works of art that inspire and delight. I am proud to share my love for painting with the world, and I hope my art brings joy and inspiration to those who view it.
