Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

I wanted to create some movement for this diptych (see Pedestrians 2) and I chose to paint people walking in a hurry to achieve the effect I was after. I took my camera into Adelaide city and photographed pedestrians crossing King William Street. However I wanted to keep the images fairly simple and flat, so, to that end, I didn’t bother to include shadows or any details, and restricted the palette to just the three colours, red, black and white. The result is cartoon like in appearance which leaves the viewer with plenty of scope to use their imagination.
These paintings hung in the dining room of a restaurant for a few years, but were returned when the business changed hands.
