Artwork Description

‘Mountains’ is inspired by a trip back home to New Zealand in January where my friends and I hiked the Mangorei Track in Egmont National Park, with an overnight stay in Pouakai Hut. Despite looming dark clouds, we made it to the hut then walked another 25 minutes to reach the best view of Mt Taranaki at the scenic alpine tarns (pools) in time for a stunning sunset.

I used a palette knife to bring out the sharp Rocky mountain terrain and traces of the stunning sunset reflected in pastels on the peaks. I aimed to create the feeling of being high up in the clouds. It reminds me that God calls us ‘Come up higher’, to take ourselves out of worldly perspectives into heavenly ones. That is where true freedom and peace is found.

This artwork is an acrylic painting on 280gsm acid free cotton canvas. It has been varnished with gloss varnish to bring out the depth of colour and to protect the artwork from UV rays. Edges painted.

It comes with a signed certificate of authenticity and is also signed and dated on the back of the painting. Ready to hang.

Purchase of this artwork does not include reproduction rights. Artwork cannot be copied or used without the artist's prior permission.

Artist Bio

"In my secret place, creating"

Jacqueline is an emerging artist currently based in Melbourne with a vision to magnify the wonder and awe of God through colourful, bold and dynamic art. In the midst of a difficult, isolated and "locked-down" season in life, Jacqueline drew unexpected strength and joy from picking up a pencil and immersing into the creative art process. It soon escalated into a beautiful evening practice in the quietness and stillness of her home. After a few months, she began exploring and studying watercolours and later acrylic on canvas. Every piece of art is an overflow of an intimate relationship with God. This creativity has overflowed into other areas of life, including the way she leads her business, The Swim Project, to spread the joy of swimming to all adults globally.

Jacqueline hopes her art will transform hearts, elevate homes and ignite the fire within - secret dreams, hidden treasures.

Her artwork titled 'Joy of Looking Up' was exhibited at the 2023 and 2025 Pilgrim Artists Festival held in Huon Valley, Tasmania.
