In this painting I wanted to give the viewer an enchanting warm colour vibration and a kind of feeling of molecular light energy.
The ‘Nocturnal Cluster’ series continues explores the patterns of glowing light caught in fleeting moments. In this series I have also put light as a subject under the microscope. The atmosphere is soft and out of focus to contrast the surprise of the dazzling light beams.
Here my journey with light also reflects the kind of phosphorescent light produced by medical imaging. For instance, Magnetic Resonance Imaging. MRI’s use radio waves and magnetic fields to transform vibrations into diagnostic light imaging. The scientific light in these images is colour enhanced and super saturated to reveal hidden things in places dark and unseen. Often something life threatening and frighteningly cruel but beautiful in the luminescence of the light. Years ago, I had this life threatening illness and this splendid MRI light imaging saved me. So it is the light that reveals and allows us to see, and a celebration in all its splendid vibrant colours.
What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as giving their walls finesse and with a splash of colour for years to come.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jacquelyn Stephens is a Melbourne based artist who has been successfully exhibiting her paintings for over 20 years since completing a BFA in Painting at the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts. She has gained an extensive knowledge of Art, quality art materials, techniques and theory from working closely within in the arts industries and in her own art practice. Jacquelyn works full time from her studio on the Melbourne fringe. She has had several successful solo and group exhibitions in commercial galleries and artists run spaces. Her paintings can be seen in many media publications and are held in private collections worldwide. Many of the key themes in her work have been informed by her interest in water, nature, science and the domain of medicine.
The ultimate aim of my paintings is to create a kind of poetic peacefulness. A sense of harmony and joy on the walls they hang on and for those who view them.
