This is an original, one off, abstract painting on canvas ready to hang on your beautiful wall.
A moody textural sky-seascape inspired by my love of the dramatic ambience and emotional feelings created by sea and sky along the southern coastal areas of Australia. I reluctantly part with these impressionistic landscapes as I get so much out of looking at all the textures, layers and atmospherics.
Water as a subject, context and formal element always find its way back into my artwork. It reveals my passionate love of the sea and all things water. Here I am also inspired by the cloud formations reflected across the water, down-pours, under currents, drifts, the movement and flow of all things air and water. The storms above and below the surface. Patterns on the larger scale. I find all these things meditative and worthy of contemplation.
I have to confess this series is also deeply inspired by Claude Monet and the storm paintings by William Turner. It is an exploration and ode to the way both these artists abstract elements water with impressionist painterly gestures and joy in colour. Expressive brush marks that are so fresh and meaningful against muted areas that blur our vision like mirages.
I loved using this colour palette. The subtle pastels with sublime blues and greens, touches of violet, the soft fluffy whites and creamy yellows working together to create the beautiful waters of life.
What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as giving their walls beauty, finesse and a splash of colour for years to come.
