Hello
I am an Australian artist based in Canberra. I also design accessories and make jewellery with my artwork.
You will probably have noticed by now that most of my artwork is blue. One day my lifelong love of all things blue and a chance encounter with cyanotypes collided ... and a new obsession was born.
Cyanotype printing is an early photography technique developed in the mid 1800s. There is no camera involved - just paper coated to make it photosensitive and some sunshine. The technique is easy to learn and crazy hard to master. The results can be maddeningly unpredictable - you really never know what you will get until the final wash and the image is revealed. Nevertheless, I am driven by the challenge of capturing blue moments in time, working in partnership with nature.
The sun and our garden are always centre stage in my creations. When I say 'our garden', I really mean my husband's garden. I have a brown thumb but fortunately he has 2 green ones ... so I get to reap the benefits of his hard work and just soak up the beauty of the plants, rue the short flowering seasons of some of my favourites, and wait impatiently for things to sprout and bloom. Using leaves and flowers in my artwork has given me a new appreciation for the little details that I never noticed before. Nature really is amazing!
Thanks for stopping by to read a little bit about me. I hope you see something you like. Please get in touch if you would like any more information about the pieces available for sale.
