Artwork Description

Intergenerational intention. Reframe trauma, grow little seed.
Epigenetics, a term first coined by embryologist Conrad Waddington in 1942 relates to gene phenotype and genotype, the word in the literal sense meaning 'above the genes'. This piece is in relation to the more recent field of transgenerational epigenetics and its role in transgenerational trauma. ( one of a limited series of 50 prints)

Artist Bio

Hello! I'm Jade, a visual artist originally from the south coast of Victoria (Boonwurrung/ Bunurong Country). Prior to moving to Nambour, I lived on Waiben in the Torres Strait (Kaurareg Country) for almost a decade. Although art has always been an important part of my life, it was only in 2020 that I discovered watercolours and became captivated by the medium's unique qualities.

Currently, both my studio, and my home are located in Naamba (Kabi Kabi/ Gubbi Gubbi Country). In addition to creating art, I conduct watercolour workshops to share my techniques and passion with others. I live and breathe my arts practice and was honoured to be a finalist in the Du Reitz Art Awards in 2022, 2023, and 2024. I completed a Visual Arts Diploma in 2024 and am currently in The Refinery cohort of 2024, R 6.0.

My work focuses on blending realism and abstract elements to create pieces that integrate both styles. I find endless inspiration in nature, change, and equally in human behaviour. We’re all just falling forward through life, and I find so much beauty in the chaos of it all.

Endless gratitude to you for taking the time to read my story
