Artist Bio

JAMES HALL Scenic Artist -painting is a mosaic of colour - retold visually
ARTIST’S INFORMATION :
I live in scenic Hervey Bays Queensland. Inspired by the uniqueness of the Fraser Coast and its transient natural coastal surrounds, My artwork explores and celebrates the Fraser Coast region, Fraser Island and surrounding coastlines.
I am inspired by nature, whether it to be land or seascapes. Growing up on a country farm beside the picturesque Condamine River, landscapes have always been a source of inspiration, drawing on childhood memories and stories. An interest in scenic photography is a catalyst for the vast body of artworks depicting the simplistic beauty of our native land and sea scapes. With an interest in artwork starting twenty-five years ago, I fell in love with oils as a medium. Over the years my style and techniques have matured, I love using a combination of thick paint, a palette knife, being bold or subtle in colour use.
In my latest creations I have focused on Fraser Island’s coloured sands, stunning white beaches and diverse vegetation.. Rainbow Beach, Bargara, 1770, Hervey Bay beaches, harbour and pier also offer inspiration for painting. The life within the landscape, the luminance of colour and play of light, all influence the way I paint. I hope my artworks inspire others to reflect on their own memories and take the time to appreciate the surrounds that we all share. People’s lives are essentially very similar. They move forward making different tracks but our feelings and emotions can be the same.
With 3 major solo exhibitions over the last ten years, I have exhibited in various group and solo exhibitions over the last 25 years with some notable achievement awards. . My solo Exhibition “Looking into the Blue” at the Hervey Bay Regional Gallery 2018 follows on from previous exhibitions “Blue Vista” 2012-2013 Gatakers ArtSpace, Maryborough and “A Touch of Blue” 2009 The Palace Regional Gallery, Childers.
