Koekohe Beach is a favourite place to visit on New Zealand's South Island. The beach is home to the famous Moeraki Boulders. The painting is of a brother and sister paddling in the shallows, their reflections broken by some of the beach's smaller rocks. The coastline sweeps around towards Moerak, seen in the distance.
The title is a reference to Vettriano's 'The Singing Butler'. When I finished the painting, the image of the younger boy, amusing himself with his reflection and his wet toes made me think he'd probably be singing along to a tune in his head.
