Artwork Description

'Burning Bush Dream' is an abstract piece inspired by the regeneration and magnitude of fire in the Australian bush. Many intricate layers of acrylic, charcoal and black and white inks tell the narrative of fire in the bush, with chaos, form, wonder and hope all conveyed. textures and colours are layered upon each other to give the tangled feel of the bush as it burns, with scales, fur and bones all represented. Strong, graphic colours and a well considered structure make this piece a powerful representation of the awe inspiring Australian bush in fire.

Artist Bio

I am a visual artist, digital designer and writer. After beginning my career in Sydney, Australia, I worked as an artist, graphic designer and illustrator across the globe, from New York to Asia, Sydney and Canberra. In a long and successful career as a graphic designer, I have developed an affinity with colour, shape, form and function and bring a collaboration of structure and freedom to my artworks. Balancing the marks, angles and lines of a graphic grid with the flowing freedom of type form and unconstrained marks, I look to explore the discordant harmony between the order of graphics and chaos of expressionism. As an experience designer in digital design where success is based upon pixel perfection, my expressive artworks explode away from the constraints of that medium and bring a balance to my creative life. My love of literature and typography means I often incorporate stories and calligraphy into my pieces, giving them extra depth and meaning. Each of my pieces seeks to tell a story, using a multitude of devices.
