I have been an artist since the late sixtiesโ a musician too and photographer. Now I make experimental films and documentaries. I love merging my art and music into image and installation work at my home in Portland. NSW. . I have exhibited for many years in Australia from 1976 through to the early nineties including having a work chosen by Albert tucker for the 1987 Sulman exhibition and the same year at the Malab prize.
But as all things do they change and likewise me. My oil paintings were of another time and proud of them I am but over the last few years as my life has changed so to my art work which has taken a path to three dimensional work and sculpture and colour....wonderful colour and a medium that takes you to other spheres and allows you to walk around it, touch it and catch it form in so many light and shadow ways.
The screens unlike my sculptures as these are virtually paintings on canvas that free stand I can exhibit here hence here they are. Golly gosh they are hard to translate into photos...in reality they have so much texture and vibrant colour.
These days I have started again to take "Sound to Sculpture" shows around Regional NSW and hopefully this year Victoria where I perform sound scape and organic experimental noise via my synthesizers, some vintage and right through to the latest beasts. These play sounds to my artwork. No charge to enter these shows and no prices on the work....it is purely a "happening" thing to generate people looking and listening to creativity live.
Well its been a while since I painted pictures out there in the landscape itself, its been a while that i have painted outside my job as music and art therapist and I have to say I am enjoying these oil sketches . They are so small but create challenges because of their size. my earlier paintings are from another time and I doubt I will return to that style, my sculptures have taken that spot so hence these oil sketches have allowed me to adjust prices for our current times, yes they are an oil sketch but they capture that moment in their own "note jotting" way. Now these works are displayed here as canvas only but they do have gorgeous leaf frames in a Champagne colour and a wide width of moulding. I can include these subject to price adjustment. This can be discussed through Bluthumb.
