Trompe L’inoleum certainly has a presence. All the time I was working on it I felt compelled to keep experimenting. Layering thin glazes and washes over a collaged base has lead to a painting that has great depth and interest in its subtle textures as well as its greyscale like banding. The name came about because of the colours and textures reminding me of 1980s lino flooring and the sheen they gave off. These subdued colours and textures both hide and reveal what lies beneath.
This painting has a bonus art surprise on the back too. Only the buyer will get to see this!
