Just below Drawing Room Rocks, a squall hit, drenching the forest and delighting the birds. We found shelter under a spreading Port Jackson Fig, anchored to the steep rock face by its taut roots. In between them, the cliff was covered by the leathery leaves of Felt Ferns, shiny with droplets filtering down through the canopy.
The glistening fronds inspired me to paint the watercolour, 'Under the Fig Tree". It is available here as a limited edition archival print.
I hope it brings the peace, calm and joy to your home that I felt, spending time with this little fragment of the forest.
