Artwork Description

Located in the Bungle Bungles in Purnululu National Park, this is inspired by our friends’ visit to Cathedral Gorge. No wonder it’s a World Heritage site. I can't wait to visit there myself.
Painting in professional oils on stretched canvas with a Tasmanian oak frame.

Artist Bio

Originally from Sydney, Jan has been a Fremantle-based artist for 20 years, learning from several Perth artists along the way. Jan is also a naturopathic nutritionist finding her art practice the perfect foil to her busy health practice. Her painting style varies from abstract to a more traditional style and she uses acrylics, oils, pastels, pencils and pens. Jan finds inspiration from the coast near her home and from her travels within Australia and overseas.

Jan says, “All the aspects of nature can bring about a feeling of pure joy and wonder for me - from the colour and form of exquisite flowers to the power in storm clouds over the ocean, or the rugged texture of cliffs and gorges. I love the beauty in nature in all its forms and my passion is to record this in some way to inspire others. Painting is very therapeutic as I allow the creative process to guide the paintbrush and palette knife and I lose myself in the memories of where I have been and the feelings I experienced in that place that I wish to pass on to others through my work.
