Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
This artwork comes with an external frame
Painted in professional polymer acrylic on stretched canvas with a clear lacquered timber frame.

I love flowers and the purple allium flowers are so cute and textural. In this painting I have started with moulding paste which I have created texture in, and then painted in layers to create the three dimensional appearance. It's a lot of fun painting this way and you can see my Youtube video about this in the link.

Artist Bio

Originally from Sydney, Jan has been a Fremantle-based artist for 20 years, learning from several Perth artists along the way. Jan is also a naturopathic nutritionist finding her art practice the perfect foil to her busy health practice. Her painting style varies from abstract to a more traditional style and she uses acrylics, oils, pastels, pencils and pens. Jan finds inspiration from the coast near her home and from her travels within Australia and overseas.

Jan says, “All the aspects of nature can bring about a feeling of pure joy and wonder for me - from the colour and form of exquisite flowers to the power in storm clouds over the ocean, or the rugged texture of cliffs and gorges. I love the beauty in nature in all its forms and my passion is to record this in some way to inspire others. Painting is very therapeutic as I allow the creative process to guide the paintbrush and palette knife and I lose myself in the memories of where I have been and the feelings I experienced in that place that I wish to pass on to others through my work.
