Artwork Description

I have spent a lot of the holidays in my life around Lorne, Victoria. The beach side town is nestled on the edge of the Otway Ranges on the edge of Loutit Bay, facing out to Bass Strait. So the bush and the beach and the open sea around Lorne are a constant source of inspiration for my artwork.

Artist Bio

I have always worked with my hands. The whole process of creating with all its frustrations, joy, problem solving and life lessons is absorbing for me. If along the way I create something that touches someone’s conscious or subconscious-self I am content. My artistic journey has brought me to this place, where I create abstracts in acrylic medium. Images of places I have travelled and felt an affinity with, inform me as I paint. I particularly love the sea and coastline, where you can sit, meditate and wonder at Nature. I also love the images and colours of the Australian interior. The colours from these worlds dominate my palette. I've attended various classes with different artists, in different countries, working in different media from painting, crafts, printmaking to sculpture and set design for in local theatre. But I am for ever learning, responding and changing. For now, I am loving exploring shape and colour in this new world of abstract painting. My want is to go back to making child-like marks that evoke a reaction in the viewer. An artwork should provide the viewer with some magic
