Artwork Description

Limited edition Giclée print on Ilford textured paper (cotton).
Edition 1 of 10, signed and numbered by the artist.
Size: 45 x 55cm.

A digital painting, inspired by the phrase "the Blue Comforter" as coined by the world's oldest and most articulate astronaut. Depicting an impressionistic view of the Earth from above, in deep shades of glistening blue bleeding out into the stark blackness of space and framed by a silver grey window. An evocative and soulful tribute to our beautiful planet.

Artist Bio

My primary body of work involves vibrant digital illustration and mixed-media composition, frequently evoking a whimsical Pop Art or Naïf aesthetic.

All my life I have been inspired by the colours, light, and patterns present in the everyday world. From the earliest age I was encouraged and influenced by my mother, grandmother, and sister - remarkable women and artists in their own right, who utilised such diverse mediums as patchwork, photography, and poetry.

From my particular vantage point in the Adelaide Hills, where I live with my family amidst a bountiful garden that overlooks the Sturt Gorge, I am endlessly awed by nature in its infinite beauty, complexity, diversity, and frailty. With the breathtaking Australian landscape literally on my doorstep, the natural world serves as a boundless source of inspiration, both creative and philosophical.

I approach art as a uniquely fulfilling pursuit into which I can channel both my creativity and my interests in politics, social justice, environmentalism, and conservation. I savour the opportunity to explore a wide range of mediums including pencil drawing, watercolour, acrylic paint on canvas, photography, and new and exciting digital art platforms - and my artwork frequently combines them all!
