Jane exhibits regularly in the Kangaroo Island Galleries and in exhibitions on the Island and in Adelaide. She has established herself locally as a proficient and skilled printmaker and mixed media artist. To reinforce and expand her knowledge of the many processes and techniques of printmaking and to extend her creative practice Jane recently successfully completed the first year of a three-year Creative Arts (Visual Arts) degree majoring in Printmaking. In the recent KIAS exhibition, “A Fresh Start”, Jane was awarded first prize in the 2D exhibits with her contemporary mixed media artwork “Mind the Gap”.
Jane was born in Devon, England in 1960. She has always had an affinity for nature and the natural environment and from an early age has dabbled in art and the creative process. After studying Biology at the University of Cardiff she moved to Ireland and worked as a freshwater biologist, organic farmer and biology teacher for many years. Subsequently Jane met a Kangaroo Islander (South Australia) and emigrated directly to the Island in 2009.
Jane has an enthusiasm and a passion for all things inky and in her creative practice uses lino printing, etching, drypoint and most recently is exploring woodcut. Jane also produces mixed media artworks in watercolour, pastel, ink pencil, charcoal, collage and graphite. Jane has established her home studio as a space to run small printmaking workshops to enable other to join in the fun of exploring printmaking so … watch this space!
