Artwork Description

On a trip to South America I saw little Manuel in an wildlife orphanage/rehabilitation center. Sloths, while not the prettiest animals, seem to draw us in with their happy faces and relaxed demeanor. I enhanced Manuel's eyes to add to his character. Hang Manuel somewhere to make you smile!

Artist Bio

Thank you for clicking on my artwork and dropping in to read a bit about me. My name is Jane and I live on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
Maybe you are here intrigued with what I have to offer or perhaps share the same delight in the subjects that I like to paint.

My interest in art came when I was in high school and has remained an on off hobby over the years. I have no formal art qualifications however I try to attend workshops when I have the opportunity to do so. The tuition from other artists has been invaluable to my artistic progression, the ability to build on what I can achieve on my own brings me great pleasure.

With living on the Gold Coast there is certainly no lack of beautiful scenery or subjects to explore and paint however my inspiration is currently monopolised from my love of travelling and the many photos that have been taken along the way. I enjoy painting animals and teasing out their individual personalities, in addition bush landscapes can be so varied with beauty, drama, colours and textures, their compositions are endless adding to the emotions that can be evoked.

I enjoy painting in a couple of different mediums, I like to use soft pastels, acrylics and have recently delved into oil paints. As to which one I choose is a mental equation of how I'm feeling and what I think will best suit the impending piece and the desired outcome.
