Artwork Description

This piece was inspired by a June trip to the Kimberley Coast, as the wattles were in full bloom. It captures the “settle season” when the heart lifts and the humidity clears, and the transition from the fiery heat of the earth to the hazy sky. I have tried to capture the weight of the oxide- rich red earth , as if meets the cooling indigo of the tide. I was incredibly surprised by the richness of the vegetation and the yellow splashes of the wattle in full bloom. The sky with its pinks and pale blues evokes the sof scattered light of early morning in the dry season.
