Artwork Description

This piece was inspired by a June trip to the Kimberley Coast, as the wattles were in full bloom. It captures the “settle season” when the heart lifts and the humidity clears, and the transition from the fiery heat of the earth to the hazy sky. I have tried to capture the weight of the oxide- rich red earth , as if meets the cooling indigo of the tide. I was incredibly surprised by the richness of the vegetation and the yellow splashes of the wattle in full bloom. The sky with its pinks and pale blues evokes the sof scattered light of early morning in the dry season.

Artist Bio

I love variety in my art and move between abstract style using mixed media., and realism. I am inspired by scenes and experiences, and I endeavour to capture the essence and movement. I enjoy colour and variety in my artwork. My painting “Between the Flags” won the Handlers Prize at the Thirroul Seaside Art Festival. “Banksia Served Three Ways” was selected as a 2022 finalist in the Hornsby Art Prize, and my still life “Town and Country” as a finalist at Bowral Art Gallery. “Inside Out” was hung as a finalist in the Hunters Hill Art Prize. I am a member of the Illawarra Art Society and participate in their regular exhibitions.
