I am amazed and awed by the ever changing ocean and sky at dawn. This piece was inspired by a morning walk in Wollongong, looking out at the delicate rosy light that was like a gentle blush in the sky and ocean. The sky was quite ethereal, and it became hard to see where sea and ocean met- the horizon line blurs creating a seamless transition where the water reflects the pastel hues above. Ships leaving Port Kembla Harbour become bright beacons as the sun strikes, leaving other parts in deep shadow and almost Indecipherable. An ocean of steely greys and blues await the touch of the dawn sun. This painting is a silent meditation on the quiet beauty of daybreak - a moment when the works is bathed in the promise of a new beginning.
