Artwork Description

This painting was inspired by a recent trip to the Kimberley’s and the ancient and rugged landscape . With tidal variation of around 10m between high and low tide, I was amazed by this coastal creek bed, barren and dry when we visited, but subject to daily inundation of the tides. The title, ochre and sky, refers to the dominant forces that inspired- the earthy tones of the exposed creek bed and its palette of deep ochres, rusty browns, and purplish shadows, and vast luminous expanse of the sky above.
