It was the end of an era. My amazing boss retired yesterday and I felt privileged to be asked to do a commissioned piece as part of her leaving gift. I did two paintings for her to choose from. This is the second. The significance of the choice of a coral reef and red was serendipitous which you can see with the meaning of coral below. The art work involves multiple layers and textures.
The coral reef structure buffers shorelines against waves, storms and floods helping to prevent loss, damage and erosion. Coral knows the waves of life sometimes push us to ugly harsh places, however it gives you the power to remain grounded and not become lost at sea.
Coral is the stone of peace and transformation,
a symbol of modesty, wisdom, happiness and mortality, bringing peace to within the self.
It also symbolises that there is a sign of significant and profound change in the works. These changes are a direct result of grounding yourself in the reality you are now experiencing and bringing in the next phase of your life. Coral is believed to help release the past and turn towards new ways.
Red coral is also known as noble coral or precious coral. It has a meaning and properties of prosperity, starting something new, invoking passion, enthusiasm and optimism, balancing energy, protection and good fortune.
A coral reef also represents a stable platform for others. This firm foundation will allow everyone around you to move through this transitional phase in their lives effortlessly.
