An idyllic scene of a mid century perfect home and family? The facade tells us it is.
My childhood was quite perfect. I was very fortunate. Now that I'm older, I'm regularly shocked by how many people I know, had a less than perfect growing up, sometimes with horror stories.
I've used vintage newspaper text to illustrate venetian blinds and a fancy ornate wrought iron screen door.....and to remind us of all the conversations, secrets, discussions, good and bad, and hopefully loving moments that happen behind closed doors.
My paintings are unashamedly memories of an earlier time using a mixture of memory, personal and anonymous photo reference, and found video reference.
