Artwork Description

Hidden Pool was as much fun to paint as it is to view!

Created by dabbing brush loads of colour onto a dark background, the abstract turned into this tropical looking forest/water scene very naturally and intuitively.

Playful teal provides a great contrast for the salmon colour carefully woven through and imprecise line markings and outlines give you opportunity to keep creating the scene every time you look at it.

Hidden Pool is inspired by the tropics of Australia but could represent tropical forests anywhere.

This piece will easily brighten up any space as its sense of adventure and whimsy inspires the adventure within.

Artist Bio

Janet Gouteff is a self taught artist fascinated with colour and texture. Inspired by the rugged beauty of the West Australian coast and country, many of her works reflect the beauty in this sometimes harsh terrain with broad brush strokes and palette knife dabs and scrapings. Janet works primarily with acrylics and mixed media and loves it when the work jumps out of the canvas in 3-D ways.

Janet was a finalist in the recent City of Belmont Art Awards (2021 & 2022) and has displayed her work in various local exhibitions in Perth including a solo, pop-up exhibition in August (2021).

Janet works closely with the art community and offers workshops, classes and online events for budding to seasoned artists.
