Janet Mackintosh is a mosaic maker based in Port Stephens.
Janet works in smalti, glass, marble and found objects, creating works inspired by the local area and patterns in nature. Janet loves the interplay of colours and movement that mosaic andamento, the visual flow and direction within a mosaic, can create.
Janet has exhibited in Newcastle, Melbourne, Sydney, Port Fairy and Canberra, as well as various Artisan Collective special exhibitions. She is a member of MAANZ, the Australian and New Zealand Mosaic Association and has contributed to their magazine, the Opus Oracle, as well as Better Homes and Gardens.
Janet’s latest mosaics include exploring the world of abstract, as well as the possibilities involved in creating her own 3D substrates, or mosaic base.
