Artwork Description

Guuranda Country is a contemporary digital artwork inspired by Jay’s deep connection to Guuranda/Narungga Country, community, story and cultural belonging. The artwork brings together flowing pathways, circular meeting places and layered dot patterns to represent connection, movement, shared knowledge and the strong relationships between people and place.

The colours and repeated forms reflect the energy, spirit and cultural memory of Country, while the pathways speak to ancestral tracks, gathering places and stories carried through generations. This artwork is influenced by Jay’s ongoing creative journey, cultural storytelling practice and her documentary Tracks of The Unseen – Lost Roads to Cultural Gatherings, which explores ancestral pathways, cultural connection and the importance of honouring First Nations knowledge.
