The haze inspires this minimalist impressionist painting, based on what the artist witnessed from the rear of her studio after fires devastated nearby French Island in Westernport Bay, Victoria. The early light from the sun came through a haze, turning the familiar landscape into a yellow monochrome scene lacking in the details usually clearly seen at that hour.
