Artwork Description

To explore the emotional impact of colour, I painted ‘Imagined Landscape in Purple’ by combining neutral acrylic paint colours with purple. This colour combination created an atmospheric moodiness, with light filtering through the clouds, casting the landscape in a luminous glow.
Known for its adaptability, the Native Iris flower was incorporated to symbolize hope within the transforming environment. To uplift the painting and to provide viewers withs different emotional experiences from varying viewpoints, highlights of golden paint were added.

Artist Bio

Janine Brewster is a mother and artist residing in Mandurah, Western Australia, specializing in painting imagined landscapes with florals.

From 2000 until 2005, Janine attended the painting course entitled ‘Area – Color Shape’ in her native Germany at the Bildungszentrum Nuremberg, which helped Janine develop the ability to express emotions and experiences through colors and shapes. Janine went on to study both in Germany and in Trinidad and Tobago where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in International Tourism Management.

Creating art allows Janine to express experienced emotions in a different form. She hopes to convey these emotions with the use of colour and shape, taking elements of nature as inspiration, to create art that changes the emotional feel of spaces. Stretched canvas and paper are the chosen substrates, providing the surface for a limited palette of acrylic paints to bring the artwork to life.
