Artwork Description

As the tide washed over the sand this particular day it had left a lace-like pattern. I couldn’t recall seeing a pattern so clearly etched into the sand by the simple wash of the sea. I wondered about the chemistry and physics to allow this phenomena.
Within the darker patterned sand were different little treasures that had been washed up. Sometimes I saw little shells or feathers or other debris.
This image sits gently in a room. Is is simple and uncluttered but interesting all the same.

Artist Bio

Janine currently paints original coastal watercolours that capture place and memory and offer these back to the viewer as relatable experiences. Her intention is to represent the coastal scenes that she enjoys for others to relate to; or remember; based on their own experiences of the coast.

Janine says, "watercolour offers a beauty through its transparent colours, its fragility, and texture. It also offers challenge because of these same features."
