Artwork Description

This piece was inspired by the kinetic energy of Spring in the Great Southern wilderness. Everything in the landscape comes alive, little streams are flowing in the forest from recent past winter rains, wildflower colours emerge from the undergrowth, the ocean white water sparkles in the sun as it hits colourful rock pools - movement everywhere!

Mixed media abstract - pigment ink & acrylic on Yasutomo archival paper
One of a kind - no prints will be made of this artwork.

Artist Bio

My artistic journey has always been deeply connected to the natural world. Growing up surrounded by diverse Australian landscapes and accompanying my Scientist father (Dr of Ecology) on conservation field trips sparked my early passion for photography, while my mother’s 50 year dedication to painting has shaped my initial understanding of artistic expression and creative process.

After studying photography at uni and working with traditional analogue film which transitioned to digital, I eventually craved a more tactile form of creativity again. In 2023, I began exploring intuitive abstract painting and quickly discovered a medium that felt instinctive and exciting, I haven’t looked back!!

My work explores the contrasts found in abstraction and minimalism, inspired by the colourful chaos, organic patterns and quiet simplicity found in nature. I primarily use pigment ink and acrylics to create dynamic, intuitive compositions influenced by my inner explorations and connection to nature. Years spent travelling & living in remote parts of Australia continue to surface as visual memories in my work.

I now live with my family in coastal SW Australia, where the wilderness continues to inspire my art. From textured bark and abstract rock formations to vivid wildflowers, mirrored reflections, shifting forest light/shadows and the many moods of the Great Southern ocean and sky.
