I am a self taught artist who discovered acrylics 5 years ago. Now that my daughter is at high school I have more time to be creative.
I love life and living it the best of my ability has always been my thing. I have a passion for heavy metal music and in my late forties I still strive to be front row at my favourite bands gig.
I spent many years riding motorbikes and at one point was vice president of a social motorbike club, traveling with my tent on the back attending MC Rallies, rode on a Hells Angels poker run, did a solo trip to Sydney and back as well as many weekends camping trackside at the World Superbikes and MotoGP.
At 18 I received my first camera and have proceeded to take thousands of photos since. I take photos of everything and anything that catches my eye. Someday soon I hope to do a course so I can learn to use it properly.
From 1994 to 2004 I attended weekly Ceramics classes at Janets Ceramics in Noble Park. My hand painted pieces were always admired by family and friends. This is where I learned to use paint brushes and I also achieved my 'Ceramics Teachers' certificate. The shop closed in 2004 and due to the birth of my daughter and motherhood, my creative skills were regrettably filed away.
Now that I'm back into it I find my inspiration from my surroundings as I live in a beautiful part of Victoria by Wright Forest and walking distance to Emerald Lake. Surrounded by the majestical appearance of the huge gum trees as well as tree ferns and various wildlife. Not to mention Puffing Billy who travels past our house on a daily basis.
I also have a love for one of the most amazing places I've ever been to. As kids we camped yearly down at Tidal River, Wilsons Promontory. I have yet to tackle Prom landscapes but it is definitely on my to do list. So watch this space!
I love beautiful vibrant colours, especially in mother nature, sunrises and sunsets. I have always had a fascination with trees that stand alone without leaves. If only they could tell a storey.
Some of my paintings have a touch of realism as well as vibrant, stand out colours, but I also like to paint things a little on the quirky side. I predominantly paint animals that stand to me, and will continue to paint from my long list of things to paint. I love that my friends and family love my artwork. I truly hope that people I don't know will also love my work. Cheers!
