Janita is a Visual Artist & Educator living & working in rural Braidwood, New South Wales, AustraliaJanita initially trained in Fine Arts at Meadowbank Technical College in Sydney's north west, after which she pursued a sales, marketing & management career in the art materials industry.It is from this career base that Janita diversified into Arts Education, gaining a Degree in Education majoring in Community Arts from the University of Technology Sydney & teaching in a variety of environments such as Montessori Schools, Corrective Services Education, Home Schooling Groups, as well as Community Colleges & Centres.Janita has been involved in many arts organisations primarily Artswest & SWARM in Sydney & BRAG in Braidwood. She has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions & facilitated many arts events & projects in both Sydney & Braidwood. Since relocating to Braidwood, Janita completed her Masters Degree in Visual Arts Education, with a research project in Visual Literacy at the National Gallery of Australia. Janita has worked as an Arts Educator for over 7 years at the National Gallery & has recently been contracted as a sessional lecturer in Visual Arts Education & Drawing at the Australian Catholic University, Canberra.Janita also teaches privately with classes & workshops at her 'Bush' Art Studio, and other venues in Historic Braidwood and the surrounding region. Janita's rural property has magnificent views of the Gourock Ranges & the Upper Shoalhaven River Valley & includes a forest of inspiring gum trees ready & waiting for that unique Australian artistic experience. Janita specializes in drawing and pastels but also produces paintings in oils & acrylics. Janita's own artwork predominantly focuses on nature, with her most recent work examining the patterns found in her immediate bush environment and the south coast of NSW.In the past Janita has also worked in printmaking & glass.
