Artwork Description

this is an oil painting on timber panel. the painting was executed over two sessions, the first being an underpainting, and the final pass with colours to finish the piece. clumps of paint creating texture can be seen in various positions on this painting, making it realistic, with contemporary components.

the painting has been coated in two layers of saturn varnish and is signed on the front with pencil.

depicted in the painting is a young woman who although looking quite uninterested, has fixed her gaze on something that is up to the viewer to imagine for themselves.

Artist Bio

Self taught oil painter, from Brisbane, QLD Australia. Influenced by the Baroque era, and the content and subjectivity of classical paintings. I aim to evoke romanticism, symbolism, and nostalgia as inspiration, trying to breathe modern life in to an era of art and culture which i think should be both mourned, respected, and resurrected.
