Artwork Description

I didn't paint this piece with the intention of representing any narrative or message, rather, objective examples of romance and symbolism, harmony, desire, and desire for harmony.

I composed the theme for this painting with the intention of using subjectivity that was self imposing, yet harmonious. I wanted this sentiment to be reflected in the colour palette of the painting too. I think that the subdued skin tones co operate with the vibrancy of the bin, which is all emphasised and held in focus by the infinity of the black background.

A representation of youth & waste, of life & death. Of darkness & light, and of course, Brisbane city

Three layers of oil paint on heavily gesso textured canvas, sealed with a satin varnish.

Artist Bio

Self taught oil painter, from Brisbane, QLD Australia. Influenced by the Baroque era, and the content and subjectivity of classical paintings. I aim to evoke romanticism, symbolism, and nostalgia as inspiration, trying to breathe modern life in to an era of art and culture which i think should be both mourned, respected, and resurrected.
