Artwork Description

I dreamt I was in a horrific car crash. I'm always driving on the same road in my dreams. This time, a car ran right into the side of me. A quick flash of light and glass shattering across my face. The blotches of green create a motion effect from the impact. In the background there are two power lines as it was an inner-city suburb. The subject's face is blotchy and disfigured, it's imperfect but somewhat intact. Orange was chosen to depict the car on fire. The face watches on in horror, in utter shock.

Artist Bio

Jarrod Gildea is a multidisciplinary Australian artist working primarily with acrylics, spray paint, and oil pastels. His work explores themes of grit, conflict, and the personal battles that shape identity. Bold colour and raw texture drive his practice, resulting in pieces that are both expressive and unapologetically honest.
