Artwork Description

Towards the end of a tough relationship I would have dreams about sharks swimming up to me from the depths air the ocean as I was swimming or surfing, but I was never attacked. It was a regular occurrence. After a week of these dreams my relationship with my partner ended. That night, I had a dream I was floating on my back in the ocean and I said to myself “there are no sharks”. They were signalling a warning to me all along. To help.

Artist Bio

Jarrod Gildea is a multidisciplinary Australian artist working primarily with acrylics, spray paint, and oil pastels. His work explores themes of grit, conflict, and the personal battles that shape identity. Bold colour and raw texture drive his practice, resulting in pieces that are both expressive and unapologetically honest.
