Artwork Description

I painted this artwork plein air outside by the dam near where I live on the edges of world heritage Nightcap national park. It features the reflections of the remnants of Australian native temperate rainforest. Painting outdoors I managed to capture the evening bright yellow light shining on the trees. Bright colours of light contrast with the deep shadow of the evening. Blue lotus native waterlilies float all over the painting. Ripples of many colours cover the image. Red, yellows, blues, purples, pinks and greens. This work is influenced by the Impressionist master Claude Monet.
This painting will bring that moment in time of evening by the water and the peace of nature into your space.

Artist Bio

Jasmine is a Watercolour Artist capturing the dramatic landscapes and seascapes of the Byron hinterland of Northern NSW, Australia.
She loves colour, especially Watercolours and Natural Pigments. Jasmine is inspired by the natural environment. It’s life! The skies and landscapes, but also the floral and fauna. She also finds inspiration for her visionary watercolours from her dreams and music.
Jasmine O’Shea was born in Killarney, a beautiful tourist town in the South West of Ireland, surrounded by mountains and lakes. Jasmine has been painting since she was a little child when she was given her first Watercolour set. Loving nature she began with Watercolour Botanical paintings.
She went on to receive a diploma at Limerick College of Art and Design, Limerick, Ireland.
Next she moved to Cornwall, UK staying 10 years. There she studied a Cert in Horticulture following her keen interest in the natural environment especially plants. Also, loving the coastal life of Cornwall, Jasmine returned to art college and gained a Bachelors in Sportswear Design. For her final collection she designed and created swimwear and wetsuits. Jasmine has exhibited and sold her paintings throughout Cornwall, mainly in the creative town of St.Ives and with the Candid Arts Gallery in London.
She has been living in Australia since 2013. While living on the Gold Coast she was a member of the Royal Queensland Art Society and exhibited with them regularly.
Now, Jasmine has a young child and lives in the Rainforest at the Channon near Nimbin. In 2019 she had her first solo exhibit featuring Surreal Watercolours. She exhibits regularly with Nimbin Artist's Gallery and in 2020 as their December Artist of the Month.
Jasmine teaches watercolour painting to kids and adults in the Northern Rivers region.
You can meet the artist at the monthly Bangalow markets where she sells small Watercolour landscapes of the region, prints and cards of her original artworks.
