I don't know why but I grew up thinking that cats are more like women, and men are more like dogs. It made perfect sense to my child self. Dogs and men like being outside more, scratching and sniffing and doing kind of disgusting things. Cats and women though are more home bodies. They'll do stuff when they want to do it and be nice to you when they decide! Of course it's complete nonsense, but the sub theme forms a basis for other things that are going on in this painting. I've used a wide variety of materials, techniques and applications to set up this contradiction of chaos and order. I've even thrown in this pattern that reflects Einstein's idea that space is curved. This was the most high brow thing I learnt in university and I'm not afraid to pull it out when necessary!
