Artist Bio

I am a proud indigenous Australian man. Most of my life I have been working musician and songwriter. I have always dabbled with painting and sculpture and video, Recently I have discovered. A passion for painting again. I am presently in recovery from addiction. I work in Galliamble Aboriginal Men’s Recovery Crntre in Stkilda Melbourne. My mob is Wemba Wemba In southern Central NSW on the Edwards river . . I have a strong connection to culture and country, and I'm heavily involved in my local aboriginal communities, men's groups, yarning circles, etc. Working as a musician and songwriter most of my life, only recently i have rediscovered my passion for painting. My father was an exceptional artist, and after he passed away a few months ago, I feel like he has been pushing me into this area, and also with the guidance of my ancestors. I collect ochre myself on country with permission from elders of that country, and only take what i need, sharing with my mob also. i find working with ochre very soothing,. if you have any questions about my art please email me and i will always reply.
Sincerely, Jason Deane
