Artwork Description

Meet Louie!

King Louis the Frenchie loves nothing better than to dribble a basketball with his human-dad in the ‘Courts of Davies Park’ early on a Friday morning. Following a bouncy trot up busy Vulture St street you will always find him having breakfast at the Morning After café, quietly observing his royal canine passing parade. This painting captures his beautiful soulful gaze – is he communicating devotion for you or the buttery croissant in your hand?

Artist Bio

I paint my lived experience and with most of my weekends spent on the water, turning that into oil paintings that expose the drama, freedom and challenge that is sailing, helps me share that with those around me.

Although bubbling in my mind, I haven’t always been a painter or artist. But the arts has always been connected to my life’s journey.

I studied music from an early age, but throughout high school excelled at visual arts as there wasn’t school music classes and didn’t think I could be a professional artist. But I was hooked on the buzz of playing music, particularly classical orchestral percussion, it’s hard to beat the sensation of playing in an orchestra when it is powering at full throttle. So I studied percussion at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, which lead to a fabulous professional career as a percussionist, performing with the Queensland Symhony Orchestra for 12 years, travelling and loving life.

After a life changing trip to Africa, in my late 20s my over-active and curious mind discovered web design and technology and so began my next chapter. I studied an MBA and Digital technologies and started a digital agency, which 20 years later I still own and run as a successful entrepreneur.

I dabbled in painting in the 30s and 40s but struggled with finding space in our small cottage and time… life, running a business and sailing on weekends will do that.

So NOW is it! Bringing to life what’s been in my creative subconscience is now my MO. Life’s a mavelous journey.
